Forsythia is a fast growing deciduous shrub. It prefers full sun to light shade.
Zones 4-8
Space 8-10 feet
Grows 6-10 feet tall
Forsythia is one of the first shrubs to bloom each spring. In Zone 8, they bloom for about six weeks from February to April. Forsythia looks great alone as a specimen plant, planted near Japanese Magnolias, or planted in a bed or woodsy area with other flowering trees and shrubs (such as Bridal Wreath Spirea, Redbuds and Dogwoods). Magnolia Grandiflora and Pines make a nice evergreen backdrop for Forsythia.
The plants for sale are well-rooted and blooming size. They will grow rapidly once planted in the ground.

Forsythia may be pruned, shaped, kept small, or allowed to grow naturally to 6-10 feet.
